Overview

HP product compliance documentation uses the Regulatory Model Number (RMN) as the primary product identifier. HP defines the RMN as the key identifier for product regulatory compliance and certification activities.

The RMN should not be confused with:

  • Marketing Model Name (MMN)
  • Product Number (SKU)
  • Part Number

Why HP Uses RMNs

A single RMN may cover many product configurations that share the same regulatory characteristics.

For example:

HSN-Q38C (RMN) may correspond to multiple notebook product families and MMNs.

Similarly, several Product Numbers (SKUs) may share a single RMN.

Why This Matters

When requesting product compliance documents, please provide the product's RMN whenever available, as this is typically the most effective & reliable way to identify the correct documentation.

Additional product identifiers may also help locate the appropriate records:

  • Marketing Model Name (MMN)
  • Product Number (SKU)
  • Serial Number (if available)
