Bolluca Koruncuk Village is a home for children ages 7–11 that’s designed to facilitate social and cognitive development. The village has classrooms, a library, a playground, a sports hall, and a cultural center. But it’s only recently that the village has added a robotics and coding program, thanks to the volunteer efforts of employees at HP Turkey.
“Because we want our children not only to be technology consumers but to create innovative works with technology, we believe that children’s skills must be enriched through software, coding, and educational games,” Filiz Akdede, general manager of HP Turkey, said. A technology lab equipped with HP products was established in Koruncukköy Bolluca as part of the project, and trainers from local company Nabutech will join HP volunteers to provide students with more than 16 hours of lessons in robotics and animation.
The program at Bolluca Koruncuk Village is just the beginning, Filiz said. “We are planning to carry on this project in another children’s village that the Koruncuk Foundation will found in Urla,” she said.
