HP eliminated the use of ozone-depleting substances (ODSs) in all products and manufacturing operations in 1993.

HP facilities use ODSs as refrigerants in cooling and air-conditioning systems. Although these systems are sealed, leaks during operation and maintenance can result in emissions.

HP collects all company-wide refrigerant consumption data from local facility maintenance teams, directly accounting for facilities’ refrigerant leakage and use and avoiding the need for extrapolation. We use various tools and sources for global warming potential and ozone depletion values including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s GHG Emissions from Refrigeration and Air Conditioning tool, IPCC Second Assessment Report (1995).

You can find estimated emissions data in the Climate Action section of the 2022 HP Sustainable Impact Report at www.hp.com/go/report.
